Sharma house

It has been two days since Krish ji left for London. We haven't spoken a single word since our engagement.

I only managed to talk to his sister, Kiara, yesterday.

She spent hours telling me everything about him...his likes, dislikes, his mood swings. I already feel like Kiara and I will be best friends after the wedding.

Right now, I am staring at my phone screen. Krish ji contact number is staring right back at me.

I desperately want to hear his voice.

But wait. He has my number too. Why can't he call me?I toss the phone onto the bed.

I absolutely refuse to let him think I am desperate.

A sudden loud knock shatters my thoughts. Before I can even answer, the door flies open. Poorvi Bhabhi and Rachit Bhai barge into my room.

"Dishhuuuuuu!" Bhabhi squeals in an overly sweet voice. She throws her arms around me, hugging me so tightly I can barely breathe.

I blink in utter shock. Nobody in this house talks to me with that much energy."What happened?" I ask, gently wiggling out of her death grip.

"Why the extra affection?"

"Because tomorrow is your birthday!" she shouts, jumping a little.

My jaw drops. Tomorrow? It takes me a second to realize she is right. I completely forgot my own birthday.

"And it's your last birthday in this house before the wedding," Rachit Bhai adds. His cheerful face drops, his voice suddenly thick with sadness.

He clears his throat to shake off the emotion. "So, tell me. What gift do you want?"

"Nothing, Bhai. I have everything I need," I reply honestly. Every time someone asks me what I want, my mind goes blank.

"Oh come on, baby," Bhabhi nudges me. "There must be something your heart desires."

Bhai suddenly interrupts, crossing his arms and pouting at Bhabhi. "Baby? Excuse me? You never call me baby."

Bhabhi snorts, trying to hide her laughter. "Because you are not a baby!"

"If you say so, I will become a baby for you too," Bhai says shamelessly, winking at her.

Bhabhi's face turns bright red.

I roll my eyes at their sudden romance. "Bhai! At the age when you two should be planning for children, you are trying to become a child yourself! Shame on you."

Bhabhi's eyes widen in horror. Bhai just grins wickedly. "Hehe, that wish will also come true soon. Trust me, the work is already underway!"

"Chii! Yarr! I am not talking to either of you!" Bhabhi screams, hiding her blushing face in her hands.

She turns around and stomps out of the room.

Bhai and I burst into loud laughter."Go convince your wife, Bhai. She's genuinely angry," I laugh, pushing him toward the door.

"Don't worry, I know how to handle her," he chuckles. "And tomorrow at midnight, we are cutting a cake. Just the family. No outside guests."

I nod gratefully. He gently cups my cheek, plants a warm kiss on my forehead, and leaves.

In a luxury mention (Singhania mantion)

The atmosphere is tense and professional."The Yaduvanshi's are so pathetic, man," Vansh mocks, throwing himself onto the sofa.

"They are so proud of that one single company. And the entire family has to run it together!"

"Exactly," Yuvansh chimes in, laughing. "And honestly, that company is only famous in india. Nobody cares about it anywhere else."

Vansh suddenly turns serious, looking at Krish. "By the way, are you going to tell Dishita everything before the wedding?"

Krish fixes his cuffs, his expression unreadable. "Not completely. Only as much as she needs to know."

The Next Day

I wake up earlier than usual. It's my 21st birthday. I quickly take a bath, put on a simple Minimal embroidered Anarkali with matching dupatt, and perform the morning puja.

As the rest of the family slowly wakes up and comes downstairs they offer me quick, formal birthday blessings.

But the atmosphere feels rushed. Everyone is busy getting ready for work.

I take a deep breath and approach my father and Bade Papa. "Um, Papa? Can I go out to the temple today?"

Bade Papa looks up from his newspaper. "It's fine, you can go. But don't go alone. Come back quickly. Rachit will drop you."

Rachit Bhai freezes, checking his watch nervously. "Chote Papa, I can't. I have a massive, unskippable meeting in two hours."Papa glances at my other brother. "

Aryan, you go with her."Aryan doesn't even look up from his tablet. "Papa, I am swamped today too. I have back-to-back presentations. It's impossible."

My smile instantly vanishes. My chest tightens with familiar disappointment.

Papa sighs casually. "Oh well. Dishita, beta, if anyone gets free by the evening, you can go then. Right now, it's difficult. Who will take you?"

"Can I please just go with the driver?" I plead, my voice cracking slightly. "I promise I'll be back in an hour."

"No!" Papa's voice snaps, firm and stern. "Don't be stubborn on your birthday, Dishita. I don't want to scold you today. If someone is free tonight, they will take you."

"But what if no one is free tonight?" I whisper.

"We will see about that when the time comes," Papa replies carelessly.

Those words slice right through my heart. To them, it's just a regular, busy day. My birthday doesn't matter.

I force a tight, fake smile, nod, and quietly walk back up to my room.

By 7:00 PM, I haven't left my room once. I locked the door the moment I came upstairs this morning.

I haven't eaten a single bite of food. Poorvi Bhabhi, maa, and badi maa all came up at different times to knock on my door, calling me for lunch.

I ignored them all. I spent the entire afternoon crying into my pillow.

The only person I spoke to was Kiara, who called me with so much excitement to wish me.

Hearing her cheerful voice only made me cry harder.

Downstairs, I hear the heavy main door open. The men are back from the office. I knew it.

Papa only said those words this morning to brush me off. Nobody was ever going to take me out.

A sharp knock hits my door. I wipe my face, open it, and find Rachit Bhai standing there, looking exhausted.

"You wanted to go to the temple, right? Come on, let's go," he says, loosening his tie.

He looks completely drained. The guilt eats at me. "No, Bhai. I don't really feel like it anymore," I say softly.

Before he can finish, poorvi bhabhi comes running up the stairs. "Dishu! Your parcel just arrived!"

I frown. "My parcel? But I didn't order anything."Curiosity takes over.

I walk downstairs with Rachit Bhai and poorvi bhabhi following right behind me.

I walk over to the front door where the delivery rider is waiting."Bhaiya, I am Dishita. Are you sure this is for me? I didn't place any order," I told him.

The delivery boy checks his clipboard and smiles. "Yes, ma'am. This parcel has been sent to you via express delivery from a Mr. Krish."

My heart skips a beat. Krish ji?A massive, genuine smile breaks across my face.

I take the heavy box from him and carry it to the living room coffee table. Written on top of the box in elegant, beautiful cursive gold letters was Happy Birthday ♡

"Oh ho!" Bhabhi teases loudly, nudging my shoulder.

"Show us what your handsome fiancé sent all the way from London!"

My hands shake slightly as I peel off the tape. Inside the main box are three smaller, perfectly wrapped boxes.

I open the first one. It is packed to the brim with imported, luxury chocolates.

I open the second box and gasp. Inside are 21 pairs of gorgeous, traditional jhumka's and a few pairs of trending diamond studs. My eyes tear up.

I love collecting earrings, but I never told him that. How did he know?I open the third and final box.

My breath hitches. It contains a set of hardback novels...the exact collector's edition books I had been hunting for months, which were completely sold out in India.

Suddenly, my phone starts vibrating in my hand. The caller displays his name.

Krish Ji.

I press answer immediately, pressing the phone to my ear. "Hello?" My voice is breathless.

"Hello," Krish's deep, smooth voice echoes from the other side.

"I hope my timing is right and the parcel has reached you?"

"Yes! It just arrived," I say, unable to hide the sheer joy bubbling up in my chest. "Thank you so much. Truly. I love everything."

Krish lets out a low, soft hum through the receiver. There is a brief pause before he speaks again, his tone unusually hesitant. "Are you free right now? Would you like to go for a dinner?"

My eyes widen. "Right now? But you are in London..."

"My flight landed two hours ago, Dishita," he says softly.

"I am asking only if you are free and comfortable."I look up across the living room at Papa, silently pleading for permission

Papa looks at the expensive gifts, then at me, and gives a firm nod of approval.

My heart races with excitement. "Yes! Why not? I would love to."

"Great. I will pick you up in thirty minutes."We hang up. I gather my boxes like precious treasure and run up to my room.

Exactly twenty-five minutes later, I walk back downstairs.

I changed into a sleek, white floral top with delicate golden embroidery, paired with fitted black jeans and black block heels. I am wearing the very earing Krish ji just gifted me.

I quickly put on some eyeliner, dark kajal, and a soft, natural pink lip shade.

Badi maa stops me at the bottom of the stairs. She looks at me coldly. "Be polite. Don't talk too much in front of him. Only speak when you are spoken to. Understand?"

The bright smile on my face instantly dies. The familiar suffocating feeling wraps around my throat. I look down and nod tightly. "Yes, Maa."

Suddenly, the sharp sound of a car horn cuts through the tense silence from outside.

Rachit Bhai jumps up from the couch and pulls open the heavy main door. Standing right under the porch light is Krish.

He looks incredibly handsome in a casual jacket, his dark eyes instantly scanning the room until they lock right onto me. He offers my brother a polite, small smile.
